The term Sports Massage can be misleading as you do not need to be a sports person to receive this type of treatment. Our muscles can become tight and sore from overuse, bad posture or repetitive strain, such as using a computer mouse. STRESS is also one of the biggest culprits for causing muscle pain.
Although many people enjoy a deeper treatment, Sports Massage does not always need to be painful, the same techniques can be used, using a lighter pressure. My treatments are always tailored to the requirements of my client, I use hot stones to warm and relax the muscles and bellabacci cups to release tight muscles and fascia.
I set up my practice in 1999; during this time I have treated people from many different occupations and activities, such as sports persons including weight lifters and body builders, office workers, hairdressers, students, pregnant women and children.

Harman Therapies is based at the north side of Salisbury, just outside the ring road, with easy, 2 hours free parking, outside of the property. I work in a fully equipped and tranquil treatment room which encourages relaxation and helps you to unwind, even with a Deep Tissue Massage.
As a Massage Therapist with 20 years experience, I approach my massage therapy in a holistic way, always treating the area that is giving you the problem but also paying attention to other sets of muscles that might be adding to your discomfort. For instance, you may have numbness in the fingers but the problem could be coming from your neck muscles or the rotator cuff.
The treatment is always finished off with a few minutes of gentle massage in order to give the muscles the opportunity to relax after their deep treatment. I also leave a gap between clients so that you will have a few moments to recuperate after your session.
My aim is to get you feeling better as quickly as possible by tailoring the treatments to your specific needs at the time, using many different approaches such as:- Soft Tissue Release, Muscle Energy and Neuromuscular Techniques.
You may need a Deep Tissue/Sports Massage in one session and at other times you may be feeling stressed and prefer to have some Reflexology, Reiki or a Relaxing Aromatherapy Massage.
Reflexology has been reported to have been used around the world for hundreds of years; the earliest is about 2330BC in Egypt. The painting opposite was found in the tomb of Ankmahor of the early 6th Dynasty and is know as the Physicians Tomb.
The theory behind Reflexology is that the feet are a micro system of the body with specific parts of the feet corresponding to certain parts of the body. Reflexology aims to treat an individual as a whole in order to induce a state of balance and harmony to the body and mind.
During periods of relaxation, the body is given the opportunity to restore itself. Reflexology is deeply relaxing and therefore you can feel restored and energised after the treatment.
MASSAGE THERAPY AND STRESS RELIEF
The skin is the body's largest sensory organ. Thousands of specialised receptors in the skin react to external stimuli by sending messages to the brain, this helps the brain to focus on the present moment rather than staying involved with worries and often helps the person receiving the treatment to relax.
As stress is reported to accompany many ailments, then relaxation and stress relief must therefore be of huge importance to help us cope with our busy lives.
THE IMPORTANCE OF RELAXATION
Many people find it difficult to relax. Even when we are asleep we do not always achieve deep relaxation as a stressed mind and tight muscles can interrupt sleep.
In order to achieve total relaxation it is necessary to rest both the body and the mind, which means that we must attempt to let go of our worries. This can be achieved by activities such as yoga, breathing work, tai chi, and meditation or by relaxing touch therapies that include Relaxing Massage Therapy, Reflexology or Reiki. These therapies are believed to calm the nervous system by encouraging the release of the neurotransmitter/hormones serotonin and dopamine, which calm our emotions and give us a sense of well being and contentment. This can interrupt the stress cycle and give us a bit of breathing space from our hectic lives and also allow the body the opportunity to cleanse and repair itself.
